On reaching the far side of Penn Wood, I carefully crossed a main road (the A404) and continued down Sheepcote Dell Road, When this turned left I turned right along Beamond End Lane, soon turning right again along a track or private road with a few residences either side. At its end a footpath continued between garden boundaries. It then crossed a field to reach the hedge-lined Toby's Lane (a bridleway), where I turned left.

After a while the hedge on the left ended, and the bridleway just followed a hedge on the right past a large arable field. But then there were hedges on both sides again. After some distance there was briefly a wood on the left, and the bridleway started to descend into the Misbourne valley. After the wood, the hedges either side were mainly made up of tall trees. Where a path forked left, there was a nice view down to Little Missenden (I always take a photo here). I stayed on Toby's Lane, following it to its end in Little Missenden, almost opposite the Crown pub.

I turned left, and then just had to follow the lane through the attractive village for about a third of a mile, passing the Red Lion pub and the manor house, until I reached the village church and my parked car.

I enjoyed this walk more than I'd expected - apart from Toby's Lane it was all on paths I'd walked numerous times before and I thought I might find it a little dull because of that. I didn't, the paths might have been very familiar to me but I still enjoyed them, they were pleasant to walk and there were several good views to be had. The nice Autumn colours certainly added to the pleasure of the walk, the section through Penn Wood being my favourite part of the route today.
