I turned left along the lane through Hailey. After passing the village pub on my left ('Walkers welcome', according to a sign), the lane continued between hedgerows. After passing a couple of houses on the right, the lane became a byway and I soon left it, turning right along a bridleway that followed a hedge on my left. The bridleway soon dropped steeply downhill, and then continued past what used to be a small Zoo on the left. On reaching a lane, I turned left and followed it into Well Place. When the lane turned right, I continued straight on along Urquart Lane.

After two or three hundred yards I turned right onto a footpath, passing a stables and then a paddock, the path then continuing uphill along the right edge of an empty pasture. Through a gate in the corner it continued a very short way further uphill through trees, then turned right along the top of an embankment to reach a lane. Across this I went a few yards down a farm track, then through a hedge gap on the right, continuing with a hedgerow on my left. Through a gate in the next corner, the path went slightly left as it crossed another empty pasture, rising uphill to reach a wood.

The path continued uphill through the wood, keeping left at an apparent fork and then soon reaching a path junction marked by a waymark post, Here I went left, following the now level path through the wood, close to its edge over to my right. After two or three hundred yards the path left the wood, then going through a sequence of gates as it passed some sort of works on my left. This brought me to Garsons Lane, where I turned right.
