I turned right along the road and followed it almost as far as the Frog public house, before taking a path on the left that went past the Village Hall. I soon came to a path junction where I turned right, following a broad swathe of grass between widely-spaced paddock fences for several hundred yards. On reaching a lane, I went a few yards left then took a bridleway on the right, running between old hedgerows - the bridleway leads to St Katherine's Convent at Parmoor, although I wasn't going to follow it that far. The path lead gently uphill, with occasional views towards the Hambleden Valley to my right. After about half a mile I reached Hatchet Wood, where I stayed on the bridleway at a junction where a path forked left. The bridleway now steepened slightly as it made its way through the wood.

Just as the bridleway was reaching the other side of the wood, I took another path forking half-left, staying within Hatchet Wood. About half a mile after leaving the bridleway, the path left the wood and followed a headland between two fields to reach a lane near Frieth (to my left). Across the lane I turned left along a footpath behind a hedge, passing some farm buildings on my right. At a path junction by a gate, I turned right, and was soon following a hedge on my left through a large meadow. When the hedge eventually turned left, the path crossed the meadow to a metal-kissing gate (I could see a second one a little ahead of me, but that's for a different path), where I followed a path just inside Moorend Wood for a short way to reach a track. I turned left along the track, immediately going over a crossing path (with that second gate on my left), then a few yards further on took a path that initially ran just right of the track. This short path through more of Moorend Wood soon brought me to the road at Moor End. Across the road I followed a drive a short way, then forked half-left (when the trees and bushes on the left ended) onto a path through Moorend Common.
