Pete's Walks - Brussels Lace

Photo taken on 6/07/14 at Kensworth, Beds.

This distinctive moth is quite common in south-west England and south Wales, rare elsewhere. It flies June to August. It is an unusual moth, in that it feeds on lichen rather than the leaves of plants or trees.

This is one of the rarest moths I have caught in my trap, being the first one recorded in the Hertfordshire 'vice-county' since 1937!
