This is a widespread moth throughout the UK, two broods flying May-June and August-September in the south,  a single brood flying July-August in the North.

This is the species that sparked my interest in moths - I was intrigued by the strange name (the marking on its wings resembles a character in the Hebrew Alphabet, 'setaceous' means bristly).
