Pete's Walks - Field Pansy

I first saw this flower in a stubble field near Northchurch when I was doing one of my all-day walks round Ashridge. I've seen it a few times since on the Chiltern Heritage Trail and on my second Chiltern Way walk. It's a widespread and common weed of cultivated land, but I think it's very pretty. It sometimes has violet and/or yellow patches - the examples below have both. It flowers from April onwards, and apparently can flower right through very mild winters.
