Pete's Walks - Stinking Iris

I have currently just seen this very distinctive plant just once - having been through Totternhoe Knolls on one of my local walks, I went back looking for wildflowers there and in the nearby Totternhoe Quarry Nature Reserve, where I took this photo. The flower gets its name from the unpleasant smell of its leaves when they are crushed. It flowers from May to July.
