This is a rare orchid, not only in the UK but also across Europe. They are found at around 20 sites in the south and east of England (almost a third of these sites are on golf courses, another is at Newmarket racecourse, so these Lizards are obviously fond of their sport!), though by far the largest colony is at Sandwich Bay (on or next to a golf course!). They flower in late June and early July.
