I did this walk on Tuesday 26th February 2009 a two-hour stroll around the woods at Ashridge. It had been very frustrating - I normally go for a long walk two or three times a week but unfortunately I'd had a nasty cold/sore throat/chest infection and hadn't been able to get out much for a couple of weeks. Unlike my normal walks, I didn't have a fixed route in mind when I set off, I just wandered off with a vague idea of the area I'd walk, but felt free to take any diversions that might appeal to me. I saw two Buzzards, a Treecreeper, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, a large flock of Redwings and numerous Wrens. I also came across two groups of Fallow Deer, but there were no sign of any Muntjac today. Nor were there any wildflowers.

Further along the avenue - there are sometimes large numbers of fallow Deer in the large enclosure on the left, but not today
