Pete's Walks - Wendover Arm of the Grand Union Canal (part 2)

At Buckland Wharf I crossed the old A41, and the towpath switched to the left of the canal.

As I reached the end of the canal in Wendover, I was delighted to see some female Mandarin Ducks with ducklings, the first time I'd ever seen any. Even better, I spotted one of the multi-coloured males on my way back, near Halton.

It took about two and a half hours to reach Wendover. I stopped for lunch on a bench near the RAF's playing fields at Halton, and got back to my car about 2.25pm, the 14.5 miles having taken about 4 hours and 45 minutes walking.

I was lucky with the weather, as although it had been grey with only a few sunny spells it had at least stayed dry. There was actually a brief shower as I drove home, so I'd timed the walk well!

Not a very challenging walk (canal walks are always very flat) but I enjoyed it nevertheless, even though the weather conditions weren't great.
