Path through Warren Wood, near Little Hampden

From Little Hampden I took a bridleway from opposite the Rising Sun pub (Update 22/10/18: sadly this has now closed), descending slowly through trees into another valley. At the bootom of the slope I turned left towards a stables complex, then went half-right up the opposite slope of the valley, crossing a sequence of sloping pastures (where I saw a Buzzard being chased by two crows) as I made my way to the attractive hamlet of Dunsmore.

Instead of just following the long bridleway from Dunsmore to Coombe Hill, I twice turned left off it to follow paths through High Scrubs and Low Scrubs. I once again enjoyed the extensive views over the Vale of Aylesbury from the top of Coombe Hill, and then made my way the short distance back to the car park.

The monument on Coombe Hill

As you can see from the photos, it was a lovely day and the countryside was particularly colourful. This was a really enjoyable walk, with several ups and downs, lots of woodland walking (a particular delight at this time of year, I just love walking through freshly fallen leaves) and some marvellous views. One of the best days out I've had for a while!
