Pete's Walks- West Wycombe and Fingest (page 2 of 5)

Here the route turns right near the edge of the area of rough grass, then turns left at a path junction in a wooded area. The new path has tall fences on the right. Across a road in a housing estate, the now surfaced path follows more fences and garden hedges, with an open space to the left, before becoming an alley between high fences. It led me to the centre of Lane End, with a duck pond on my right. Another alley continued across the road here, the path soon passing straight in front of a large house on the left and then following a brick wall on the left. I cut across some grass on the right to reach another road, continuing ahead on the other side with Lane End's church visible across a grassy area on my right.

A footpath then started just past a pub, and I soon entered Fining Wood where a wooden footbridge crossed a tiny stream. I went straight on when the path crossed a bridleway, then turned left when I came to the next path junction. This path left the wood and ran along the edge of a wood called Long Copse on my right. The path  then went through a small section of Long Copse to reach an empty meadow or pasture. Here I followed the hedge on my left, turning in the next field corner to continue alongside another wood.

I was now on Hanover Hill, as I went through a gate in the next corner, continuing along a path between trees and bushes.  The path then followed the edge of a large pasture as it dropped down the hill - a Red Kite and one of the cows away to my right watched in bemusement as I managed to somehow fall over here - I just felt my leg go from under me, but managed to fall relatively gracefully onto the earth bank on my right. At the bottom of the hill, I crossed Fingest Lane, and turned right along the new permissive path that runs to the left of the lane, between hedgerows.
