When I reached a path T-junction I turned left (I was joining the path that went half-left at the three-way junction where I'd gone left) and passed the entrance to Penn Street church on my left. Previously I have always turned right and gone through the car park to reach the common at Penn Street, but today I continued straight on for a short distance to reach the road through the village. I went a few yards right, then took a path starting on the other side of the road. This soon reached a field, continuing straight on beside a hedge on the left. When the hedge turned left, I turned right on a clear path through the arable crop. I soon had another hedgerow on my right. When I reached a path junction, I was back on familiar ground once more (my usual route between Penn Street and Winchmore Hill) as I followed the path half-left across the field to reach a wood.

It was a very pleasant but fairly short section through the wood, then the path crossed another arable field. The path then ran beside some allotments on my right to reach a lane on the edge of Winchmore Hill. I crossed the lane and continued ahead over an area of grass, and made my way to a seat where I sat and ate my lunch (it was now about 12.50pm)

Winchmore Hill (I used the seat for my lunch stop, the third or fourth time I've done so)

I then continued along the road through Winchmore Hill, with a football pitch on the grass on the right. At a road junction I turned sharply left, passing a pub on my right here,  then took a footpath on the right after two or three hundred yards. This was soon running between hedges for a short distance before reaching a field, where I continued straight on beside a hedge on my right. After a couple of fields I reached a narrow  wood, Coleshill Larches, beyond which the path crossed another arable field, passing a small copse on my left. The path then continued between a wooden fence and a hedge on the left - I suddenly remembered that this can be very muddy, and just as it reached a gate it was, the only place today where I got my boots very dirty. The path then continued on (there was a fine view on the right here, which I don't remember noticing before) to pass along a gravel drive between some cottages and reach a street in Coleshill.

Just before reaching Coleshill there was this beautiful view on the right - I've walked this path many times but can't remember noticing it before
