The path eventually brought me to a lane, where I turned left and followed the lane into part of the village of Fawley. I took the second footpath I came to on the left, which started beside a garden on my left and quickly entered a grass area (with some bee-hives nearby). The path was easy to follow as it had been mown through the grass here (it followed a hedge on the left and more or less went straight on). I passed through a small area of trees, and then the path continued for quite a distance between hedges, before joining a broad gravel track past a grand house on my left. On reaching a lane, I went a few yards left to photograph Fawley church before turning round and following the lane northwards through Fawley.

I soon reached the village green on my left, which had an old well on it with a notice about its history. At a junction immediately after the green, the lane became Roundhouse Lane and I now continued along it for almost another half mile until I reached Roundhouse Farm.

Information about the the well on the green at Fawley - I've seen two of the similar wells it mentions, at Gallowstree Common (see 9th photo on page) and Stoke Row (bottom of page)

Roundhouse Lane

When the lane turned left by Roundhouse farm, I took a bridleway along a track, going almost straight on for a few yards before turning right. The track continued as far as a cottage, where the bridleway continued between hedges and fences. Soon there was a fine view to my right, across the Thames Valley towards Remenham.
