When I reached a path crossroads in Wroxhills Wood,  I turned left (oddly there did not seem to be a waymark pointing this way). On reaching the western edge of the wood, the path turned left and ran for several hundred yards between the wood and a fence or hedge, with occasional views on the right towards Goring. On eventually reaching Battle Road, I crossed over and took a path on the other side. This was a rather unattractive path, hemmed in between hedges or trees and, later on, by garden fences on my right.

Eventually the path emerged in a large paddock, sloping uphill to my left. On the other side, the path went through a gate, crossed a track and continued down a short alley. It then crossed another track and went through a hedgerow, beyond which I turned left along a paved path and then continued down a residential street. Where this turned slightly right, where another street came in on the left, I went straight on down a short alley. At its end I turned right along a private drive, which brought me to a road junction. Here I went straight on, over a railway bridge and into the centre of Goring. When I reached some shops, I turned left along an alley that took me to a car park (and toilets). On the other side of the car park, I turned right down a street for a short distance, then turned left into Manor Road. I then just had to follow this road back to where I'd parked.

This is the third year in a row I've done this walk when I've wanted to see the orchids at Hartslock, and I've really enjoyed it each time. This year I would have liked to have done a longer walk (Goring is a long way for me to go, for such a relatively short walk), but things had conspired against me and I just didn't have the time - maybe next year. It's certainly a very nice route, well worth doing even without looking for the orchids at the nature reserve (which are obviously only there for a few weeks each year).
