The path continued very pleasantly over the top of Lodge Hill, with fine views to be had in most directions. It then descended the hill in a northwesterly direction, turning north at the foot of the hill as it briefly ran between a hedge and a fence. It then turned left through a metal kissing-gate to cross a large stubble field, where I went straight on at a path crossroads in the middle of the field. The path then crossed a corner of another stubble field to reach Wigan's Lane.

Across the road another path continued alongside a hedgerow. A path came in from the left when I reached the end of the field on the other side of the hedge, but I continued straight on, the path almost immediately going through a gate to switch to the left of what was now a fence-line. I continued along the right edge of a large and empty pasture, soon with a long row of trees on my right. After a while, a path forked right through the trees and then following  a fence quite steeply downhill for a short distance to reach a small tree belt. Beyond this the path crossed a meadow that had been mown and then went over a track. It then ran for several hundred yards between a fence and a hedge on my right, passing two very large mown meadows on my left. On returning to Bledlow, I simply had to turn right and retrace my footsteps a short distance to the church and my waiting car.

I always enjoy this walk, it's one of my favourite shorter walks in the Chilterns. There's a few ups and downs, and a nice mixture of woods, fields and downland, but the best thing about it is the number of fine views to be had. Combining this walk with a visit to Yoesden nature reserve worked really well for me today, allowing me to get my first ever photographs of Adonis Blue butterflies.
