On the far side of the ploughed field, I turned right behind the hedgerow and followed a bridleway along the edge of another field to reach Great Widmoor Wood. The bridleway continued on through the wood, and in about a third of a mile brought me to a road, where I turned right to head to Kingsash - this is where I got talking to another group of Duke of Edinburgh Award youngsters, so I forgot to take a photo of Kingsash.

At a lane junction in Kingsash. I took a footpath starting just a few yards down the lane coming in on the left. This descended downhill across a large stubble field - the path wasn't visible, I just had to aim for a protruding hedge corner. On getting there, I went over a stile and continued on, beside a hedgerow on my right. I was disappointed not see any Field Pansies, which I usually see along here, but I did see some White Campion, which I remembered seeing here last December. The path and hedgerow turned right after a few hundred yards, and in the next field corner I turned left along a somwhat overgrown hedge-lined track which brought me to a lane in Wendover Dean. I turned right, this lane soon turning left, then I turned right at a lane junction by Wendoverdean Farm to reach the A413 after about another quarter of a mile.

I crossed over the road, and took a footpath starting a few yards to the left. This crossed the the grounds of Mayortorne Manor, going through a paddock and then across some park land with the big house to my right. Through a gate in the right corner I went straight on along a track, crossing a railway bridge - again I got chatting to another group of youngsters on their Duke of Edinburgh expedition (and again forgot to take any photos). On reaching Cockshoots Wood I took a path forking right through the wood (not for the first time I was initially confused by an apparent path along the very edge of the wood, starting at the same point). When this path came to a path T-junction, I turned right and followed it downhill to the former picnic area and car park next to Cobblershill Lane - the car park is sadly closed (there were two cars that just managed to fit in across the chained off entrance) but the picnic tables are still here and I made use of one to sit and eat my packed lunch (it was about 1.45pm now).
