The path crossed a track or drive and continued across the right edge of some park land, with a large house called Rossway over to my left. Beyond this, the path passed the scant remains of Marlin Chapel - it dates back to the 13th century, but all that remains now are just four ivy-clad columns of stone work. The path then quickly merged with a bridleway, where I went more or less straight on, with Cock Grove on my left. The bridleway than ran for several hundred yards beside a tall hedgerow on my left, before switching to the other side. After several hundred more yards, the bridleway went right, following a concrete farm track close to the A41 dual carriageway on my left.

Across a lane I continued along a path that ran alongside and then through Hockeridge Wood. On reaching a path crossroads in the wood I turned left, rising uphill and soon leaving the wood. The path continued beside the wood on my left until it ended, when the path went half-right across another Christmas Tree field to reach the A416 main road. I had to cross the road and go left, going straight on at a roundabout then immediately turning right down a lane (going to Haresfoot, according to the road sign). The lane quickly turned left and right, then where it turned right again I went straight on down a bridleway, again having the A41 close by on my left. After a few hundred yards I went straight on at a junction, but was now on a byway rather than a bridleway.
