Still on the Ridgeway, I followed the path through another wood, again with a field close by on my left to begin with. I continued to follow the signs for the Ridgeway (white acorns) as the path progressed on through Linton's Wood and into Goodmerhill Wood. After about half a mile the Ridgeway turned right onto a track. The track soon dropped down hill through the wood (for a while there was a permissive path for walkers to the right of the track) and took me to a road junction at Buckmoorend. Here I left the Ridgeway, by turning left along the lane through the hamlet. Immediately after the last house on the right I turned right on a footpath that first followed a hedge on my right then crossed a ploughed field to reach a minor road (the one that goes through Hampden Bottom, which I'd crossed earlier near Dirtywood Farm).

I crossed the road and went down a bridleway that began along a track for a few yards before forking very slightly right, immediately next to a gate. It ran through a tree belt for a few hundred yards, then continued through Pond Wood. I went straight on at a very slightly staggered bridleway crossroads, and a little further on the bridleway turned right by a road, following a track for a short distance before turning left to run almost parallel to the road on my left. When I reached the small car park by Pulpit Hill I turned left to reach its entrance, then took a bridleway across the road. It went south, initially with paddocks either side, then ran just inside the edge of Ninn Wood which extended to the right
