Not too much further on, I came to a path junction where I took a path going sharply right, dropping gently downhill. This merged with the broad path I'd just seen, and shortly afterwards emerged from the wood. The path followed a hedge on my left, then went followed the garden hedge of what is named Dirtywood Farm on the OS map, before continuing down a drive to reach the road that runs through the valley of Hampden Bottom. I crossed the road and continued down the long drive to Solinger House (the name on the gates here said Solinger Farm). This initially ran through a wood, then turned left and continued with fields either side. Along here I spotted some Field Scabious and some Common Toadflax.

When the drive turned right, I went straight on for a yard or two and then took a path on my left. This ran through part of Knighton's Hill Wood, dipping slightly and then gradually steepening until it became quite steep. Near the top of the slope the path turned left, and the gradient eased. After a few hundred yards I turned right onto a crossing bridleway, heading further into Knighton's Hill Wood.

When the bridleway dropped downhill and was crossed by a track, I turned left but then almost immediately forked right (I'd only walked this path in the opposite direction before now). This curved right, then turned left, then ran straight for a while before gradually curving slightly right. On eventually reaching a path T-junction (close to a property in Green Hailey), I turned right, this path running just inside an edge of Knighton's Hill Wood with a field close by on my left. At the end of this path I turned left onto a bridleway, which ran between the same field and Sergeant's Wood on my right.
