Germander Speedwell is a much darker blue than Common Field Speedwell, which is another flower that I have seen often on my walks. Germander Speedwell is so-called because its leaves resemble those of another plant called Germander. It is the largest and most brightly coloured of the common varieties of Speedwell in this country, and it flowers between April and June.
