Pete's Walks - Scarlet Pimpernel

Photo taken on 28/05/22, near Bellingdon, Bucks.

I have since seen this tiny flower on several occasions, including at least twice on the Chiltern Heritage Trail. It is a common weed of bare places, flowering between June and August

Photo taken on 31/08/19, near Ewelme Park, Oxfordshire. This is an unusual blue form of Scarlet Pimpernel (it can also occasionally be pink). There is an actual Blue Pimpernel, a subspecies of Scarlet Pimpernel, which is almost identical to this. As this was growing with some ordinary red Scarlet Pimpernel, I think it is just the blue-flowered version rather than the subspecies (but I could well be wrong). Whatever it is, I think it's very pretty!
