Pete's Walks - Squinancywort

Photo taken on 29/06/08 at Bison Hill, Whipsnade, Beds.

A characteristic plant of chalk and limestone grasslands, as well as dunes, its name derives from its use in the middle ages to cure Quinsy.  It is a very tiny plant - the entire width of all the flowers in the above photo only actually being about half an inch. It flowers from June to September.
