I crossed the road and went down a path, with Coleshill church on my left. On reaching another road, I turned left, immediately passing the church's modern (2000) Lych gate and following the road through the village for about a third of a mile. Just past a junction where a road went left and the road I was on started turning right, I turned left along a concrete drive near Cherry Tree Farm. The path continued beside a white railing fence, and further on I was on the right edge of a very muddy and almost bare field with a couple of horses in it.

On reaching a large field, close to an electricity pylon, the path went right, following a hedge on the right. Beyond this grassy field, the path continued along the top of a small embankment with an intermittent hedge. At the end of the embankment, the path went half-right across the field to a hedgerow, where it turned left. The path now followed the bottom of a shallow valley, gently descending all the time, with first a hedge and then a ditch on the right. Eventually the path ran beside some garden fences on the right and ended when it met a paved path. I turned left and followed this path over a footbridge across the A413 road on the edge of Old Amersham. On then coming to a path T-junction, I turned left. After about a hundred yards, when the path went right, I went a few yards left into an old meadow, then followed a path that went past the end of a tall hedgerow on my right and descended half-right to a gate. Through the gate I turned left along a short street (Whielden Green) to reach Whielden Street. Here I turned right, and after a hundred yards reached the High Street in Old Amersham. I used a nearby pedestrian crossing to reach the other side, where I made my way the short distance to the door of Amersham church.

This was a pleasant walk for me, despite the fact that I was very familiar with most of the paths (the exception being Toby's Lane, and even there I'd walked it just a few months ago). The paths were fine (except the muddy field) and there were some nice views. Penn Wood was very nice in the Autumn colours. But it has to be said that the route was pretty flat, with one long gentle ascent at the start and an equally long and gentle descent at the end.
