Google map of the walk

Near the top of the slope a track forked left into the woods around Boddington Hill. I followed the track gradually uphill - after a while there was an open area of young trees to my right, the normally fine view being severely restricted by the grey conditions. I carried staright on along the track until it reached a junction with another track, where I went half-left. The hillfort at the top of Boddington Hill was now somewhere in the trees on my left, I really must make the effort to explore it sometime. I soon came to another track junction, where I turned right and headed for the visitor centre and car park in the middle of Wendover Woods. After several hundred yards a sign indicated the exit route from the car park, and I followed it.

The exit road from the visitor centre and car park (I turned right roughly where the car is)

Just after passing the visitor centre (to my left), I turned right down a track (there was a sign saying it was the start of the Firecrest Trail). After about a hundred yards I took a path going half-left (ahead of me I could see a statue of The Gruffalo). I soon turned right to pass between wooden barriers and continued down a long path going south through Wendover Woods (it's not shown on the OS map, though there was a public footpath a little to my right). This was the section of the walk I'd most been looking forward to, but it was now rather damp and misty (as it would be for the rest of the walk). I still enjoyed the rustling sound of the fallen leaves as I tramped through them, though, through this wood that was mainly beech trees. The exit road was still a little way to my left initially, and I saw a couple of vehicles along it. I went straight on at a few junctions where paths crossed the one I was on (none of them being shown on my OS map). The path was very level, but to my right I could see that the ground sloped downhill quite steeply.
