I turned left along the byway through part of the hamlet, and went straight on where it ended at a sharp bend in a lane. After following the lane for two or three hundred yards I turned right (thus joining part of the southern extension of the Chiltern Way, which I'd now be following as far as Woodhouse Farm), and followed a bridleway gently uphill for about half a mile to reach another byway. I turned left, the byway soon becoming a lane as it entered the hamlet of Hailey.

Just past the village pub I turned right onto a footpath that ran along a track named Poors Lane. After about half a mile I passed Poors Farm, where I continued straight on along the same path. In places I had views out over the Oxfordshire Plain to my left, but it was all still a bit misty (despite the fact I now had bright sunshine). At the end of the track the path continued on across an arable field to reach Wicks Wood, beyond which I reached Woodhouse Farm.

Leaving the Chiltern Way I turned right here along a public byway, on a farm track that followed the edge of Wicks Wood on my right. It curved right, then turned left, away from the wood, and gradually rose over a distance of several hundred yards towards Mongewell Woods. The track divides in two at one point, it wasn't obvious here but after looking back from Mongewell Woods the track on the left would seem to be the right of way.
