In the next field corner I turned right along a hedge-lined path, still with the houses of Knotty Green to my right. After a while the path continued through Netherlands Wood, though for a while there were still garden fences not too far away on my right. I continued straight on when a path (not a public footpath) went right, alongside the fences, my path soon widening into almost a track. When I came to a path crossroads I turned right, and carried on through Netherlands Wood for several hundred yards more.

I then made a mistake by turning left at the first path junction I came to - to follow the route I walked in march 2010 I should have turned left at the next junction. I only realised my mistake when I came to the edge of the wood and wondered why the path continued through the middle of a corn field instead of having a hedge on the left.  Rather than go back, I decided to carry on as the map showed it was easy to get back on the correct route. After crossing the corn field I turned half-right on a path through another corn field. When I reached the lane-like drive from a large property named The Grange (I didn't actually see the house but it's named on the OS map), the public footpath followed it to the right. When the drive turned left, a path came in from the right, this being the way I'd meant to come, so I was now back on the correct route as I followed the drive to its end on the A355 main road.

After crossing the road I continued down a footpath through a wood named Birchen Spring, with wire fences on either side of the path. Beyond the wood the path went slightly left across a meadow or paddock, passing to the left of a solitary tree - there were two large clumps of lovely Common Toadflax in this field. The path then continued downhill through Blue Close Wood.
