Across the lane I continued down a farm track, with Scott's Farm on my right. I went straight on when a path soon forked left, and again went straight on where a second path went left from the track. I passed a small cottage on my left, and then just after going through a gate, the track turned left and entered the corner of one of a number of inter-connected horse fields. Here I turned right, the path staying close to the tall hedgerow on the right. On eventually reaching the end of this field, I went through a gate and crossed over a road junction to take a hedge-lined track called Judges Lane (on the OS map). After a few hundred yards the track passed a cottage on the right and entered Ipsden Wood. It continued along a valley bottom through the wood for about half a mile, until it reached Busgrove Lane.

I turned right along Busgrove Lane, but soon reached a junction where I turned right. After a couple of hundred yards or so, I took a footpath that went left into a wood (still Ipsden Wood, I think). The path soon met a bridleway, where I went more or less straight on, initially with a wood to my left and fields close by on my right. I soon had woods on both sides again, this now being Beech Wood. I passed through the tiny hamlet of Heath End, going straight on along the bridleway through the woods, until after another third of a mile the bridleway left the wood and ran between hedges or fences a short way to reach a lane in Hook End. Here I turned left, going straight on almost immediately when a lane came in on the right, and then taking the right fork at the next lane junction.
