I then looked out for and took a bridleway going right, initially going through an area of Rhododendrons, and then turning left along a track through another wood. Not too long after leaving the wood I came to a bridleway T-junction, where I went left. After a quarter of a mile or so this bridleway brought me back to the lane I'd followed through Hook End (Park Lane). I crossed over and continued along the bridleway, which was soon running just inside the edge of a wood named Nipper Grove, with fields to my right. After about half a mile, I reached a lane, across which the bridleway continued for a few hundred yards to reach Wyfold Lane.

I crossed the lane and went a few yards right, then took a bridleway continuing in roughly the same northeasterly direction as before. This ran between hedges (I soon spotted the pink berries of a Spindle tree, something I don't come across very often) with only occasional glimpses of the fields either side - the large field on my left initially was a sheep pasture. Further on the bridleway was running past the extensive grounds of Wyfold Court (a large Victorian mansion, now apartments) on the left, I now and then caught sight of the grand house though it was largely hidden by trees.
