Lunch over, I crossed the main road through Ashley Green, and continued down Hog Lane on the other side. Almost opposite the last property on the right, I turned left along a bridleway running between high hedges containing much holly. The bridleway continued past Flamstead Farm, turning left and then right before carrying on between more hedgerows. After a few hundred yards it turned right and dropped gently downhill, fairly soon passing a group of beech trees on the left. At the bottom of the slope the bridleway joined a roughly surfaced track, which after a few hundred yards brought me to the road through Chesham Vale.

I turned left, but only as far as a footpath on the right that ran through a long narrow green field, at the end of which I turned left along a path that dropped downhill beside some paddocks on my right. At the bottom of the valley I turned right along a byway on a surfaced track - there used to be an Ostrich farm to the right here, but now there are just paddocks with a few horses in them. I stayed on the byway when it turned left and then right, now running between Ramscoat Wood and the paddocks. The byway then entered the wood and rose slowly uphill, before turning right along the far side of the wood. The byway continued between hedges when the wood ended, turning left at one point, then turning right at a junction where a path went left. I was now on the edge of Bellingdon.
