I crossed the road and went a few yards right before turning left along a restricted byway. I followed this for a few hundred yards until it was crossed by a bridleway, where I turned right. At first I had some park land over the hedge on my left (I had a short chat with a bird watcher along here) then the bridleway ran through a wood called Holly Grove for about half a mile. On eventually reaching a surfaced drive, the bridleway went a short way right to the end of the drive, where I turned left along Rocky Lane.

I had no views as I followed Rocky Lane for about a quarter of a mile, as there were woods and/or high hedges on either side. I then took a footpath on the right that went down a gravel drive, continuing between a paddock fence and a garden hedge on my right. The path then reached a wood, where it descended gently into a valley as it curved left. On leaving the wood the path rose equally gently up the other side of the valley, following a hedge on my left. At the top corner of the field I turned left to reach the green at Shepherd's Green.

I followed the left edge of the green, soon having a drive on my left. At the end of the green I crossed the lane or drive through this attractive hamlet, and continued down a footpath on the other side, going through a gate and passing a cottage on my right. The path continued along the right edge of two fields to reach Sam's Wood, where I immediately went half-left at a path junction to follow a path through the middle of the wood. Over a stile, the path continued a short way just inside the left edge of another wood. On leaving this wood, the path dropped downhill beside a hedge on my left and brought me to another part of Rocky Lane.
