I went right a short way along the lane, then took a footpath on the left. This soon joined a surfaced drive that took me past Greys Court (a National Trust property) on my left. After passing the ticket office, I turned left through the car park and continued along a path beside a fence and then a wood on my left (it went through a gate in the fence at one point). The path brought me to a drive, which I crossed and then the path went left through a meadow to reach Famous Copse - there'd been spots of rain since I left Shepherd's Green and there was a heavy shower at this point. I turned left just inside the wood, then at a junction turned left for a few yards, before turning right and continuing just inside the edge of Famous Copse, now heading slightly west of north.

I left the wood at a corner, going straight on along a track for a few yards, then taking a path on the left - I could hear shooting going on in the woods ahead of me here. There was another heavy shower here too. The path followed a fence and then hedge on my right, then went over a stile into the woods and passed a small reservoir on my right. It then turned left and followed a broad strip of grass slightly downhill. At the bottom of the slope I turned right along a similar broad grassy break in the woods. After a while the path turned half-right and headed up through the wood. It passed a farm on my right, crossed a track or drive, and continued through what was now Hatch Copse. On reaching what looked like a lane but was actually a byway, I turned right to reach the A4130 again at Bix.
