Across the road a path entered Buckland Wood. The path soon seemed to split in two, I kept right staying close to the edge of the wood. I passed a stile where another path went half-right (and other waymarks confirmed I had made the right choice where the path split). The two paths that had split then ran more or less next to each other for a short while. When the other path went half-left, I seemed to remember that I needed to go the way, and a quick check of the map confirmed this. I soon passed a waymark path at a path crossroads in the wood. confirming I'd gone the right way. The path then continued through another area of wood where there was much holly - it was similar after I passed a junction where I took the right-most of two paths going slightly left (this is NOT how the paths are shown on the OS map, which indicated that I had to turn left for a distance then turn right). I soon moved imperceptibly from Buckland Wood into Drayton Wood, and gradually drew quite close to an edge of the wood on my left.

When I eventually reached another path junction (still close to an edge of the wood on my left), I turned right, still in Drayton Wood. This path soon turned slightly left, and further on I kept left at a footpath fork (which is further on than the OS map would seem to suggest). The path ended on an edge of the wood, where I turned left along a bridleway. Where the arable field on my right ended, I turned right into another part of Drayton Wood.
