Beyond the pond I turned left at a path junction. The path wound its way through a small piece of woodland close to a farm on my right, then crossed a couple of meadows. Across a drive, it bore left to reach a wood with the intriguing name of Famous Copse. On entering the wood, I immediately turned left on a permissive path (not shown on the OS map) that ran just inside the edge of the wood. When this path ended at a junction with a bridleway, I turned left, but only for a few yards before turning right and following a footpath just inside the western edge of Famous Copse.

Famous Copse, just after I turned right
Shortly after the path left Famous Copse, I turned left on a path that followed a fence on my right through a large empty pasture. By a small reservoir on my right I went over a stile and followed a path through part of Earl's Wood. This soon turned slightly left and led down to a T-junction in a valley bottom, where I turned right along a strip of grass running through the wood. After a while the path went half-right and rose gently uphill through the trees. I passed close to a farmyard on my right, the now level path continuing through Hatch Copse, close to a field on my right. When the path ended at a byway (looking very much like a lane!), I turned right and followed the byway to the main road (A4130 again) running through Bix.
