I went a few yards right to the end of this old lane, where a total of six paths or bridleways meet. I turned sharply left here - for the first few yards it was actually a bridleway (part of the South Bucks Way), but then I turned right on to a public footpath (there is a faded yellow arrow on a tree a few yards down this path). This initially ran through Chisley Wood, with a field close by on my right. Further on it went through Goodmerhill Wood, eventually dropping downhill to a five-way junction of paths. Here I went straight on (the other options are left, half-left and right), gently uphill at first, through Fugsdon Wood until I eventually reached a lane.

I walked less than a hundred yards left along the lane, then took a footpath on the other side. This went slightly uphill through a wood called High Scrubs. I soon came to a path T-junction, where I turned left. This path soon turned right, and soon merged with another path coming in from the right. It then continued straight on through the wood to a path crossroads. Here I went straight on, now on a bridleway between fences though initially still in woodland (I could have shortened the walk by turning left to reach Coombe Hill). Beyond the woods the bridleway dropped downhill with green field either side - the usual nice view ahead towards Wendover Woods was somewhat obscured by the mist. After passing a small wood on the left, the bridleway turned left (where a footpath went right) and ran between paddocks and then garden fences to reach the lane through Bacombe (unsurprisingly called Bacombe Lane).
