Pete's Walks- Cadmore End and Turville (page 2 of 4)

Across the lane, a footpath continued ahead, staying quite level as it crossed the foot of a steep hill sloping up to my right. After emerging from some bushes, the path gently descended across a large meadow, now descending gently to reach the far left corner. On reaching the corner, I turned left to reach the centre of Turville. Here I turned right, to pass the church on my left.

Just past the church I took a footpath on the right - I'd been especially looking forward to this section as I'd not walked this path to Ibstone since 2015. The path crossed some grass and went down an alley between gardens before crossing a field, heading for the far left corner. It then went for a few yards across a small corner of some downland sloping steeply upwards (an open access area), before continuing gently upwards through a small wood. On leaving the wood, it continued uphill beside a fence on my left, now with nice views along the valley on that side.

The path to Ibstone

On reaching the edge of a wood (Park Wood I think, from the OS Map), the path turned half-left beside the wood. I soon came to a path junction, and on the spur of the moment decided to change from my planned route. Instead of going straight on along the path beside the wood, I took the path going half-right, gently uphill through the wood. I followed it until it ended at a path T-junction (there were no waymarks or arrows on trees) with a track where I turned left (if I'd gone right, that path would soon have left the wood). The track descended gently through the wood, until it met the path I'd originally been on, just inside the wood. This diversion added maybe a couple of hundred yards to the walk, but it meant I walked two paths I'd never walked before and which I'm unlikely to walk again.
