I followed a lane ahead of me, then after a couple of hundred yards or so went left on a lane or drive leading to Turville Grange. A footpath continued to the right of the house. Over a stile, I turned left at a path junction, the new path leading northwards through a huge pasture inhabited by some black bullocks. There was soon a good view eastwards along a valley leading to Turville and Cobstone Mill, where I was now headed. The path entered Idlecombe Wood and started descending into the valley. About halfway down it turned right, and then contoured round the hillside for over half a mile. There were quite often good views out from amongst the trees, looking across the valley towards Ibstone, or ahead towards Cobstone Mill.

Eventually I moved from Idlecombe Wood to Churchfield Wood. I passed close to Turville Court (I had considered taking a new and shorter route here from Turville Grange, but the contouring path through the woods was too good to miss), and continued through Churchfield Wood. After a while the path descended fairly steadily to emerge on the edge of a field, where I turned right and soon reached a lane on the west side of Turville.
