Pete's Walks- Hambleden, Frieth, Bovingdon Green (page 3 of 5)

I followed the path through Moor Wood for several hundred yards. On reaching a crossing bridleway on the far side of the wood, I went over a stile and continued along the path as it went half-right and rose up a steep hillside covered in scrub. At the top of the slope the path turned further right and carried on along the top of the hillside, until it reached the edge of a wood. Here I went a few yards left, then turned right to follow the path alongside the edge of the wood. On reaching a bridleway, I turned right and followed it downhill through an area of Yew trees.

I ignored a path coming in on the right, then when the bridleway reached a path junction close to Bluey's Farm I continued ahead on a path between a hedge and a wooden fence, with a paddocks on my right (I could have used the bridleway, over the hedge on my left). The path led on, through two gates in quick succession, into Shillingridge Wood. After walking through the wood for about half a mile I reached a bridleway on the far side where I turned left. This was soon running quite steeply uphill between hedges - as it was quite muddy too, this was a bit of a slog. At the top of the hill I reached a lane, opposite a couple of cottages in Copy Green.

I turned right and followed the lane to Copy Farm. Here a bridleway went left, but I followed a footpath straight on between the farm buildings, continuing through a gate into a small pasture and then through an open gateway into a much larger pasture that sloped downwards into a valley called Mundaydean Bottom. There were nice views here - looking half-right I could see across the valley to the houses along Frieth Road, while at times I could see left towards Marlow and beyond it part of Berkshire across the Thames. It was a long gradual descent through the pasture until I reached Mundaydean Lane.
