At this junction I went left through a gate, then immediately turned right, to head in the same northerly direction I'd been on before. This path ran between a hedgerow on my right and a fence on my left. After passing by two fields I reached a path junction, where I went straight on for a few yards before the path entered Bellows Wood at a stile. The path split in two just over the stile, I took the path going downhill (left) just inside the edge of the wood. This seemed a long and steep descent, but the contours on the map tell a different story and when I looked back from the bottom it didn't look anywhere near as steep as it had seemed coming down.

I turned right along the bottom of Bellows Wood, with a field close by on my left. After almost a quarter of a mile I turned left at a bridleway junction, still with the same field to my left but now just inside a different wood. At the end of the field, the bridleway turned right but I continued straight on through the wood along a footpath (much churned up by recent forestry work). The path ran through the wood for over half a mile, after a while curving left from north to west, the last part being in Lowndes Wood (the OS map doesn't name the other wood or woods). The path then continued across a couple of empty pastures to reach a minor road.

Across the road a path continued through Grove Wood, then across a small pasture to another road, just north of Lee Clump (one of the settlements within the village called The Lee).
