The path eventually reached a junction (by a flint wall along my left), where I turned right and continued more gently downhill through the wood. The path levelled out and eventually reached a car park and then a road (going to Wendover, to my left). I crossed over and continued down a drive into the RAF base at Halton. I soon reached a waymark post where the path forked slightly right from the drive, into a belt of trees. This brought me to another drive, which I followed as it immediately turned left, soon passing some Rugby pitches on my right. Just past these, another waymark post showed where the path went right into another tree belt (I kept right at an apparent fork in this path. On reaching another waymarked junction, I went sharply left through the trees, the path then going half-right across a grass area to reach Halton church. I walked through the churchyard and out of the gate to reach a road in Halton.

I went a short way right, then turned right along the towpath of the Wendover Arm of the Grand Union Canal, with the canal on my left. I soon passed under an iron bridge painted bright blue. Soon I had the Rugby pitches I'd passed a few minutes before over the tall hedge on my right. Roughly where they ended I reached a seat where I stopped to eat a very late lunch (it was almost 2.30pm) - I'd been aiming for this seat as I've used it for my lunch stop a few times before.
